Parsec runs with elevated permissions to prevent issues when hosting your PC, but that unintentionally also blocks hotkeys like Discord's push-to-talk from working when the Parsec window is active. If you won't host currently, here's how to disable it.
One of the ways you can work around the issue is by using the portable version of Parsec. The portable version is available in the downloads page, and will allow you to connect to other machines.
If you want to host this computer to others, then use the regular version of the app to avoid issues like the app locking up when opening elevated applications.
Do this if you're connecting to someone as a guest and want hotkeys to work properly.
pservice.exe
and click "End task"parsecd.exe
(you must close it last)If you restart the computer at any point, Parsec will restart as SYSTEM and these steps will need to be done again. Unfortunately that is needed as Parsec may have issues updating itself otherwise.
Do this if you're hosting to someone and want to avoid issues that can happen from Parsec lacking permissions (learn more).
To re-enable, either restart the computer, or:
cmd /k "net start parsec & taskkill /f /im parsecd.exe"
